In a nutshell: Noctua has launched a new line of cooling products designed to expand its award-winning fan technology beyond pure PC applications. The new Home line initially consists of two fan sets as well as nine modular accessories, allowing the company's PC cooling fans to be used in a variety of different ways.
The NV-FS1 set, for example, pairs an NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm fan with an NV-AA1 airflow amplifier to create a powerful yet quiet desk or room cooling solution, and comes with everything you need to get up and running.
Those that already have Noctua case fans on hand can opt for individual components as needed. Accessories include a pivoting fan mount, the aforementioned airflow amplifier, an AC to 12V DC power supply, an eight-port fan hub, multi-purpose gaskets, and anti-vibration pads in your choice of black or brown.
Noctua's new Home line could also be ideal for cooling non-PC components like A/V receivers, game consoles, set-top boxes, or other devices with integrated ventilation holes.
Noctua CEO Roland Mossig said tech-savvy DIYers have already been using their fans beyond PCs for years, adding that the new line makes their tech more accessible to a broader audience.
The Austrian cooling specialist is known for putting out premium products with matching price tags, and that isn't changing here. The NV-FS1 fan kit, for example, carries an MSRP of $100, the eight-port fan hub will set you back $45, and the power adapter will run you about $30.
I'm a little surprised that there isn't a battery-powered option – something like a desk fan holder with a built-in USB battery bank. Such a device would allow you to plug your fan directly into the bracket and run "cable-free" off battery power. When the bank is empty, simply recharge it like you would any other battery bank using a USB cable. Perhaps that is being actively developed and will launch at a later date?
Noctua's new Home line products are available from today and can be ordered directly from the company's official Amazon store.
